To Whom It May Concern:
First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Momir Petkovic
and at the present time I work as the Assistant Greco-Roman National
Wrestling Coach for USA Wrestling at the Olympic Training Center
in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I have been involved in the sport
of wrestling for more than 44 years and wrestled competitively for
27 years. One of my greatest accomplishments was winning the Olympic
Gold Medal in the 1976 Olympic Games.
The reason I am writing this letter is for one of the students involved
in our resident program, Mr. Darryl Christian.
Mr. Christian has been part of our resident wrestling program at
the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado for more
than two years. In this short time, his improvement has been outstanding.
For someone to develop at the rate he is tells me, as his coach,
that he can reach as far as he wants.
He is a very dedicated and hard working athlete; the kind of athlete
that you always want, at any time, in your wrestling room. He understands
how much you have to put in to be a champion. Mr. Christian is always
after you, asking questions like, “Coach, can you come earlier?
I want to go over some technique with you.” or “What
else can I do?”
Those things are telling me how much he really wants to do it, and
I believe that he is going to achieve his dreams. In the last two
years he has been in placed in the top three wrestlers in the country
with a very good chance to make the 2004 Olympic Team for Athens.
Internationally, he has competed in a few tournaments in Europe
where he did pretty well. The last tournament he competed in was
the Germany Grand-Prix this past summer where he beat a few very
good wrestlers and took fourth place. That is a great achievement
for someone who has only been in the game for a short time.
As his coach, I support him with everything I have and truly believe
that he is our future champion.
I hope that this short letter about Mr. Darryl Christian is going
to help him to take care of some financial things that he needs
to and be able to do what he wants to do - to become a CHAMPION.
I would appreciate all of the financial assistance that you can
offer him and leave everything else up to HIM.
Thank you
All the best,
Momir Petkovic
